Yay, our SVT14s obviously made an impression. The only problem with them is that they were a bit too simple; I just milliputted the fore-end radiator bit to the barrel and can't take them off. This wasn't a problem until both of them had the hops go rubbish and now I need to remove all the milliput to take them apart.

We shall probably be in for this one. I guess all we need is a blue stripey t-shirt to go under our regular tops, is that right?

Also, can I add another vote* for pilotkas? Anne's Russian** helmet gives her a headache after about 5 minutes wearing it.

* Note - from Anne, not me of course because I am the chairman of the "More Helmets in Airsoft Pressure Group" or more catchily "MHAPG".

** Note - for Russian, read Czech.

Barrie, I take it you know the czech helmets have an adjustable liner, just in case Anne's is a bit tight,I have exactly the same problem with my german one where it is just fractionally too tight.

I don't think there is a requirement for a Telnyashka unless you plan to go Navy?

It's going to be early Febuary, we're all going to be well wrapped up, who will notice a blue stripey shirt?
(unless you want to use it as an excuse to get a bss, they do look quite good, in which case, of course  )

To confirm, you can be RKKA or Navy.

The only problem with them is that they were a bit too simple; I just milliputted the fore-end radiator bit to the barrel and can't take them off.

I made the radiator bit out of a piece of tin which slots over the front of the barrel and is then held in place with two bolts which go right through it either side of the metal bar which joins the barrel to the bottom tubey thing. It tends to scrape up the barrel a bit, but at least I can take it off again when I want to turn my M14 into its G43 incarnation.

If it is as cold as the Russian game last February, I shall probably be wearing a tracksuit and ex British Army padded suit thingy under my rather flimsy Soviet cotton uniform. Not sure wearing a greatcoat is very practical for a game, but I shall experiment a bit.

Cheers
Martin

I had little issue with wearing my greatcoat at border clash. The only problem I found was kneeling on it when trying to crawl quickly. I was considering waering one for this too.

So who fancies doing a M14- DP28 conversion?

Nope not mine, a clever chap over on the US ww2 Airsoft forums.

It is rather splendid and pretty simple to do by all accounts.

The front end looks like a rather complex build to me!

Ours are pretty much exactly the same design, just with added milliput to stop them scraping up and down the barrel. It's not a vast problem, because I'm not clever enough to replace the hops anyway (as the fox said when he couldn't reach the grapes).

Also, Anne likes russians in blue stripey shirts for some reason, so I guess we might be going navy.

The man thing which puts me off Navy is having to buy (and wear) a sailor hat for the game.

There are some photos of naval troops in Zalogas 'Red Army Handbook' nicely kitted out in plashes, a mix of helmets and pilotkas and armed with a mix of nagants, SVT40s, PPsH, Captured MP40s and DPs. Maybe I'll buy a stripey shirt and just _pretend_ to be an infantryman :)

"man thing"? Freudian slip?

I actually thought the Russian Navy Beskozirka was pretty smart and the least :ghey: looking sailors hat I have seen, well the black version anyway!
